Bolivar, une des grandes figures romantiques du XIXème siècle, débarassa une grande partie de l'Amérique Latine du joug Espagnol. En 1901, soixante-et-onze ans après sa mort, la firme Rocha de La Havane le commémora sur ses bagues. Il n'est sans doute pas étonnant qu'une marque portant le nom d'un personnage aussi puissant, offre des mélanges fortement charpentés.Valeurs sûres du Havane.

In 1902, nearly a century after the death of Simón Bolívar, a Spanish businessman living in Havana paid tribute to the Hero in using his name for a brand of Habanos which is today one of the marks most in demand, especially in Great Britain. It is not surprising then that said cigars are made of leaves whose character symbolizes the brave personality of the Latin American hero.

COHIBA

Marque préférée de Fidel Castro, le Cohiba fut créé en 1960 pour usage diplomatique uniquement. Dès 1982, il était offert au public en trois calibres: Lanceros, Coronas especiales et Panatelas. Trois formats s'ajoutèrent en 1989 pour compléter la Linea Classica: Esplendidos, Robustos et Exquisitos. Les 5 formats de la Linea 1492 virent le jour en 1992 pour commémorer le cing centième anniversaire de la découverte de Cuba et du Havane: Siglo I, II, III, IV et V .

Mythical name . Was created in 1960 . Lanceros was the prefered cigar of Fidel Castro.The Cohiba cigar took by surprise the world of smokers one day in 1966. Its name became famous very soon upon registration of the brand in 1969. When it was finally brought to the market, it was by then the most coveted cigar in the world.

The name of this brand is very old: first Cuban settlers used to call the coarse rolled leaves of this solanaceae -lit, while inhaling the smoke through the opposite- by the name of cohiba.

Tobacco for manufacture of Cohiba cigars is quite special. It is grown at full length in certain selected fine plantations in the Vuelta Abajo, in the province of Pinar del Río.

CUABA

Apparue sur le marché en 1996, Cuaba est la seule marque à ne proposer qu' un seul module tous déclinés sous 4 formes différentes.tous ces cigares sont en effet des figurados, riches et aromatiques.

Corporación Habanos s.a. first launched the Cuaba cigar on the market on 19 November 1996, in London. The name of this cigar is very old, and dates back to the times of the early Cuban settlers. This was the name of an indigenous tree in the island, featured by its excellent burning properties, that is still grown in the country.

These cigars, which stand out by their pleasant aroma and enticing dark gray color are pointed in both ends, whereby they are called figurados (torpedo-shaped cigars). They are offered in traditional boxes of 25 cigars.

El REY DEL MUNDO

En 1882, la manufacture Antonio Allones lança une nouvelle marque de grande qualité et de prix élevé.

Confiants et peu modestes, ils l'appelèrent "Le Roi du Monde". Ce fut le succès et très rapidement la société fut rebaptisée "El Rey del Mundo Cigar Co.". Ses produits sont caractérisés par un mélange plus léger de tabacs.

The origin of this peculiar brand dates back to 1848 when the Spaniard Antonio Allones set up his own tobacco business in Havana. Only four decades later, in 1882, he made the registration of a cigar of premium quality and rate, under the extravagant name El Rey del Mundo (King of the World). Success came overnight and soon the factory was named after the mark, El Rey del Mundo Cigar Co. This brand name is one of the most popular and coveted Habanos amongst discriminating cigar smokers

FONSECA

Fonseca reste encore aujourd'hui une marque très méconnue,sa principale caractéristique est sa légèreté.Ce sont des cigares d'été légers et faciles emballés dans du papier blanc.

It was the Spaniard Don Francisco Fonseca who made the registration of the mark under his surname, in 1907. The factory was set up in several buildings in the capital city, until it was finally established in Quivicán, a quaint small town in the province of Havana.

Since the early years the Fonseca brand became renowned and cherished for the quality and appearance of its cigars. It is the only Habano in the market which is wrapped in very thin and almost transparent silky paper.

H.UPMANN

H. Upmann était banquier. Envoûté par les cigares qu'il recevait de Cuba, il s'installa à La Havanne en 1844, comme banquier et cigarier. Sa banque périclita rapidement mais ses cigares, dont chaque boîte porte sa signature, restent l'exemple parfait d'un grand Havane .

On October 15th, 1844, the first accounts were heard of on one of Habanos brands, highly ranked throughout time, whose popularity has far exceeded the expectations dreamed of by its creators, brothers Hermann and August Hupmann.

It is a deeply entrenched brand amongst smokers who are fond of very strong tobacco. Its wrapper, darker than in other brands, stresses its flavor and fragrance, giving it a sweet and spicy note. They were very successful in the last century in Germany where these cigars were served in silver salver. And this is now a most cherished brand in England.

HOYO DE MONTERREY

Dans le village de San Juan y Martinez, en Vuelta Abajo, la grille d'entrée d'une plantation porte l'inscription "Hoyo de Monterray. Jose Gener. 1860", ce qui indique que Sr. Gener cultivait le tabac avant de créer sa propre marque en 1865. La série "Le Hoyo" fut lancée en 1970 pour satisfaire la demande de cigares plus corsés, présentés en cabinets.

In the town San Juan y Martínez, in the Vuelta Abajo, there is a wrought-iron gate with the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey, José Gener, 1860", which indicates that Mr. Gener used to be a tobacco grower before he registered his mark in 1865.

Although it keeps its traditional packaging, this mark has undergone deep changes. Hoyo de Monterey cigars are the best new generation cigars, more pliable, with great draw and excellent burning properties, with just right fragrance and flavor, and no excess of light (lager) tobacco in blend. Vicente and José Lamadrid Piedra created the José L. Piedra as a commercial brand in 1880. Their cigar factory was at Calle Máximo Gómez No. 5 in Remedios, in the tobacco-growing area of Vuelta Arriba, in what is now Sancti Spíritus Province. After the Cuban Revolution, the brand was launched very successfully as a product popular among demanding Cuban smokers.

This brand is known for its simple packaging-in cardboard boxes and cellophane-wrapped bunches. It comes in a medium size, with a pleasant aroma and slightly strong and typically Cuban taste.

JUAN LOPEZ

Les cigares Juan Lopez sont fabriqés à partir de mélanges doux.Leur fabrication est restée arisanale ce qui est un gage de leur qualité.Ils savent facilement se faire adopter même par des amateurs débutants.

Juan López Sena created this brand in 1880. In 1908, it was transferred to his heirs, who sold it to the Sociedad C. Del Peso y Cía. in 1918

LA GLORIA CUBANA

Cette ancienne marque fut reprise il y a 40 ans par Partagas dans le but de commercialiser des Havanes différents de leur production habituelle,c'est à dire plus onctueux,plus fruités,moins agressifs et très parfumés.

La Gloria cubana is a brand with full aromas and spicy flavour. Cigar made in the Partagas fabrics.

Introduced in 1885 by the Sociedad Cabañas y Castro, it was soon a success amongst cigar cognoscenti for their being well-manufactured Havana cigars of an excellent aroma, strength and palate.

This brand has similar traits to those of El Rey del Mundo and La Flor de Rafael González Márquez. Together, they make up a triad of very well presented cigars in mid sizes and mild-mid to mid-strong palates, and an excellent quality-price ratio.

MONTECRISTO

Montecristo fut lancé en 1935 par la manufacture H. Upmann, d'abord en cinq formats désignés non par des noms mais par des chiffres. Les autres formats tels que le "A" et les "Especial" s'ajoutèrent au début des années 70. le goût particulier des Montecristo a tellement plu au fumeur de cigares qu'il s'imposa comme le plus populaire des Habanos depuis plus de deux décennies

Most famous Havana Brands started only in 1935. There are no machine-made in this range and the flavour is medium. The no 2 is popular because of this shape and strength.The no 4 is the best sale of Habano.

Introduced in the market in 1935 by the H. Upmann Factory, the Montecristo brand first consisted of only five sizes identified by numbers instead of names. Other sizes were added in the early 70s. The distinctive flavor of Montecristo has given delight to smokers, so much that it has for two decades dominated preference among Habanos.

PARTAGAS

C'est en 1845 que Don Jaime Partagas ouvrit les portes de sa fameuse manufacture à la Industria 520, La Havane. C'est là que ses cigares ont toujours été fabriqués, sauf entre 1987 et 1990, durant la restauration des bâtiments. Cette marque très respectée offre des mélanges corsés.

Partagas has a very higly pronounced taste, very large assortment, we select only the hand made cigar. In 1845, Don Jaime Partagás opened up for the first time this famous factory at 520 Industria Street, Havana.

A Partagas cigar dispels all doubts, but one should beware of imitations. The 8-9-8 cigar is probably the most celebrated. All Partagas sizes are recognized by their fragrance and half-strong flavor and their usually light color wrapper.

QUINTERO

Here is a brand which has always been shadowed by the great Cuban. It enjoys a reputation of offering an excellent value quality/price, but it is not a representative of the nobility of the Havana; it rather reveals a different aspect that some amateurs appreciate at any time

POR LARRANAGA

Very rare Cigar

In an early date in the history of Habanos as 1834, a Spaniard named Ignacio Larrañaga established the mark Por Larrañaga which, after more than one century had consolidated a well deserved renown for the quality of its rolling and tremendously ingenious presentation of its sizes and shapes.

Its Lolas en Cedro used to be very famous and are still the specialty of the house. This cigar, wrapped in a very thin cedar leaf, is a real masterpiece for its matchless presentation.

PUNCH

Don Manuel lopez de la J. Valle & Co. créa Punch en 1840; Il visait le marché Britanique où le magasine humoristique du même nom connaissait un franc sussès. Un Mr. punch, très satisfait, le cigare entre les doigts, est encore représenté sur les étiquettes de chaque boîte de ces cigares très appréciés depuis longtemps.

Don Manuel López, owner of the J. Valle y Cía, established the Punch brand in 1840, intended for the British market where a nickname comic book was in fashion. The comedian Mr. Punch, a cigare in hand, is still the outstanding figure in the box decoration of these coveted mid-taste Habanos.

It soon became a Habano of indisputable quality in the marketplace. This tremendous popularity of Punch amongst the British also trapped Sir Winston Churchill who gave in to the temptation to visit the Monte y Zulueta factory during his stay in Havana. The British politician ended up giving his name to a size of this brand.

QUAI D' ORSAY

This brand was made mainly for the French market in 1970s. All its sizes tend to use light wrappers, a frequent preference in France. Cigars are of a nice taste, mid strength, solid in texture and good burning properties.

RAFAEL GONZALES

On prétend que l'avis figurant sur chaque boîte de Rafael Gonzales, que "les cigares devraient être fumés dans le mois qui suit leur expédition ou devraient soigneusement mûrir pendant environ un an" serait dû à la plume d'un importateur anglais des années 30. Il est certain que le bouquet délicat de cette marque est fait pour flatter le palais anglais.

The first remarks on this brand date back to 1936 when it was registered under the name La Flor de Marquez. It was object of a relaunch in style in Spain, to become a highly popular brand in the important Spanish market. This is a premium, mid-strength cigar presented in very beautiful and pleasing wrapper colors.

RAMON ALLONES

Née en 1845 cette vieille marque cubaine se rapproche du goût anglais,c'est à dire avec des fréquences directes,terreuses,riches.Ce sont des cigares d'après-dîner.

In an early date of the history of Habanos as 1845, Ramón Allones established his namesake brand. These are very stylish cigars whose sizes and shapes are carefully chosen. 8-9-8 Ramon Allones cigars both in their varnished version (Dalia), and the unvarnished sample (Corona Grande) have won preference even among discriminating smokers

ROMEO Y JULIETA

Fondé en 1875 par Alvarez y Garcia, Romeo Y Julieta prit son essor en 1903, lorsque la manufacture fut rachetée par "Pepin" Fernandez Rodriguez. Pepin parcourait le monde en faisant courir sa jument Julieta partout en Europe et en produisant la sélection la plus large de bagues personnalisées pour les célébrités de l'époque.

Established by Alvarez y García in 1875, Romeo y Julieta started to make strides in 1903 when it was purchased by Pepín Hernández Rodríquez. This cigar offers a wide range of possibilities, with sizes and shapes whose strength goes from medium to high.

These cigars provide smokers with a feeling of fulfillment, a unique and exquisite aroma and a pleasing palate.

SAN LUIS REY

In 1940 this brand was registered under the name Zamora y Guerra. Known for their flavor ranging from mild to medium, these Habanos are hand made by experienced rollers, with most celebrated leaves from the Vuelta Abajo.

The Saint Luis Rey brand has a market niche, matching all quality indicators established for trademarks.

SANCHO PANZA

Ancienne marque cubaine encore fort respectée.Les cigares sonrt raffinés,doux,élegants,dans un registre très aromatiques.

The brand was registered for the first time in 1848, in the name of Don Emilio Ohmsted, at 48 Angeles Street in city of Havana. Then, during the 188os. the factory was bought by Ramón Allones, who kept its labeling, its traditional trimmongs and its always superb quality. later, info this century, in 1940, the brand can be found registered in the name of Rey del Mundo Cigar Co.

VEGAS ROBAINA

Apparue sur le marché en 1997, Vegas robaina doit son nom à une grande famille de planteurs.Une excellente matière première laisse espèrer un avenir souriant.

The brand bears the name of the property of the best Cuban tobacco growers, Don Alejandro Robaina, Who comes from a Family of tobacco growers who set up in the tobacco region of San Luis, at the middle of the last century - the area having the best fine tobacco plantations and wrapper tobacco of the Vuelta Abajo region.

Approximately 30% of the tobacco exported from Pinar del Rio provice use vegas Robaina (Robaina Tobacco plantations) wrapper, marking it a tobacco legend. This brand is a testimony to the work of the farmers of Vuelta Abajo and especially to him who bestowed his name upon it, for the achievements accomplished during the last few years.

TRINIDAD

En référence à la ville de Trinidad,première vraie ville fondée à cuba. Apparence semblable au Lanceros de Cohiba.Marque apparue sur le marché en 1998.

Marketed for the first time in February 1998, when it was presented in havana during the annual gala in which the “Hombre Habano del Año” Awards are bestowed, it was already known to connoisseurs all aver the world, since a variation of it, but with a 38 ring gauge, had been used since 1969 as a Diplomatic present from the Government of the republic of Cuba.
